I too had insomnia for many years. I always thought it was due to the extreme amount of stress in my life. If I did manage to fall asleep at 4 or 5 in the morning, I had to get up at 6:30 and go to work. Miserable is not even the word to describe how I felt. No matter how physically tired I was, most of the time I would toss and turn and couldn't turn my mind off. Some suggestions: turn off all lights, turn off all noise such as radio or television. Have a bedtime routine that includes quiet time before bed. Have a bedtime snack of milk and cereal or cookies. Milk promotes sleep. Take Tylenol for pain relief. I know you don't have pain. Some pain is low enough in intensity for you to ignore, but it can interfere with your rest, so try the Tylenol. Take Melatonin that you can purchase at any store that sells vitamins and other supplements, like Walmart, Target, GNCMake sure your room is not too hot or too cold. Keep the room neat and inviting. It is almost impossible to rest in a mess. Do not drink beverages containing caffeine after 2 p.m. Read the label, it doesn't have to be cola or Mountain Dew to have caffeine in it.
