What can cause someone to hurt themselves in their sleep?
Frank Oud Asked: What can cause someone to hurt themselves in their sleep?
This morning I woke up with a small wound on the bridge of my nose. It's nothing too severe, just a little skin stripped off. I can't remember having scratched it open consciously, and I also can't remember having had any dreams in which I scratched my nose or anything.
I have been known to grind my teeth quite hard in my sleep, to the point where my parents would hear it from their bedroom. I don't know how/if that relates to me having scratched my nose open last night, but, apparently, it's unhealthy to grind your teeth in your sleep, so I thought it might be worth mentioning.
Lately, I haven't been under much stress (at least not that I know of). I don't have a job or go to school at the moment, but it could be stress that I don't know of ( -according to a psychologist I used to see, I have at least some form of anxiety/panic disorder.)
It just kind of spooked me to see what I had done to myself in my sleep tonight, so I thought I'd see if anyone else has experiences with it and/or knows what could be the cause of it.
Thanks in advance
I once had a dream where I was very angry at someone and attempted to punch them. Ended up punching my head board and waking my self up in a startle. Had a few sore and bloody knuckles from it.
Just sleepwalking can be a risk
