Could TMJ cause sleep apnea?
Asked: Could TMJ cause sleep apnea?
So I'm pretty sure I have sleep apnea… I'm always tired it seems and I never wake up rested. But I think i also have TMJ. I can't close my mouth easily… it takes a lot of energy just to keep my mouth closed and I have been a nail biter and gum chewer my whole life so it would make sense that I have TMJ.
I was wondering can TMJ cause sleep apnea? Like maybe my jaw is not in its correct place which causes my throat to not be as open? Idk… any thoughts?

Traditional vs Functional Orthodontics 2?
Asked: Traditional vs Functional Orthodontics 2?
Many thanks Tooth975 and Mary. The traditional ortho also noted that sleep apnea and TMJ are conditions that people are genetically predisposed to (in other words, I'd have them irrespective of the extractions). The functional ortho was very decent, took models of my teeth, and I'm seeing him on Wednesday. The thing is I understand I'll never have the perfect smile (in reality, who does?!) due to my jaw situation, but I'm very very wary of bicuspid extractions of healthy premolars. What's worse the traditional ortho thought I had a cavity when a full checkup revealed that my tooth was healthy.
1) Are sleep apnea and TMJ genetic conditions unrelated to extractions?
2) If I use a functional appliance plus old-school braces (ceramics), how will my profile change?
I can't thank you enough you're a great person!

Four teeth extraction for braces?
Asked: Four teeth extraction for braces?
I asked this question earlier, but apparently didnt make myself clear.
So recently I got four teeth on the sides of my mouth pulled for braces. Not my wisdom teeth…the pointy teeth in the front on the sides. Canines? Bicuspids?
I decided to do research on it after I got it done (dumb on my part), and many people said that they regretted doing it.
I researched and researched and many people said that it causes sleep apnea, TMJ, pre mature sagging of the face…so many things. It makes sense because the teeth would be pulled back so far, and there would be nothing to support the lips and skin so it would all sink in. I'm a scared that this is going to happen and I don't want to do it anymore.
I already got the teeth removed but I haven't gone back yet to get the moving back process actually starting.
Would a cosmetic dentist be able to put teeth back in? If you could please do anything to help me with this, it would mean the world to me. I can't do this…I just need a way out of this and quickly. my next appointment is February 5th
