Diagnosed with apnea. I think its a scam.?

Asked: Diagnosed with apnea. I think its a scam.?

Went to the doctor with allergy problems. He asked if I snore.I said only sometimes, because of congestion due to allergies. He signed me up for a sleep lab.Doc calls me back 2 weeks later and and diagnosed me with obstructive sleep apnea, now I have to go to the sleep lab again for a CPAP fitting. He also said that I need to avoid sleeping on my back.

I feel like this is a bullship diagnosis, because I hate sleeping on my back, I'm a belly sleeper. However at my first sleep lab they would not let me sleep on my belly. In fact the sleep tec told me that they will wake me up at some point in the night to make me sleep on my back, unless I'm already sleeping on my back.So I tried to get to sleep uncomfortably on my side. They stuck a sensor inside my nose that tickled every time I inhaled thru my nose.Once my shoulders were too sore from laying on my side I resigned to trying to sleep on my back, and breathing thru my mouth.Result:I woke up every so often due to snoring.

I really feel like this is a scam.I read somewhere that the number one contributing factor to snoring and sleep apnea is sleeping on your back.My doctor even recommends that I avoid sleeping in the supine position. So if that is the case, then why is the sleep lab so insistent on me sleeping on my back?Isn't that setting me up for failure?

One last thing that I find highly suspicious.Of all the paperwork in the pre-sleep questionaire, they made me sign and initialize an agreement that I would only purchase and obtain CPAP equipment and supplies exclusively thru them.Is this normal procedure?

I can't help it, but my bull ship censors are going off and indicating a red alert.

CPAP: Full face mask ear blockage?

Asked: CPAP: Full face mask ear blockage?

Hello,

I recently started using a CPAP machine for APNEA about a month ago and it's a full face mask. I always get blocked ears whenever i swallow and have to keep taking the mask on and off in order to clear them. Will a nasal pillow solve this if i switch masks? I already called Lincare to see if they can come and let me try one and they are coming tomorrow. I just wanted to know if the ear blockage is a health problem or just the full face mask? Will a nasal pillow solve this?
